In 2012, I traveled to Haiti and learned that many couples choose not to marry because they cannot afford wedding dresses, suits, and rings. Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the Western Hemisphere, and when couples do not marry, they do not baptize their children or give them the other sacraments such as Confession or Holy Communion.
The pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Milot, Fr. Alain Prophet, said that if he could provide such items to his people, the number of marriages would increase dramatically in this in this region of 25,000 people. In 2012, we launched phase one of this project, and many couples entered the sacrament of marriage as a result (see photo). Now they are in need of more suits, dresses, and rings than before.
So, let’s help our Haitian brothers & sisters!
The Sisters of Life have graciously offered to receive all wedding attire items, while another organization, CRUDEM, which operates the local Catholic hospital, has offered to deliver them to Haiti.
DO YOU HAVE A WEDDING GOWN YOU ARE WILLING TO DONATE? A TUX OR SUIT? HOW ABOUT WEDDING BANDS?
If you’re able and willing to help these couples in need, please send all items to:
Sisters of Life, 198 Hollywood Road, Bronx, NY, 10464
God bless you!
